Annual Self Drive Hire Insurance
With annual self drive hire insurance, the policyholder declares the number and types of vehicles operated by the business during the time of insurance. The persons that are allowed to drive on the policy (the hirers) will be restricted to an agreed age profile and other eligibility criteria. The only change made to the policy during the year will be vehicle additions and deletions from the policy.
Daily Rate Self Drive Hire Insurance
A daily rate policy is an ideal policy for operators who only wish to insure vehicles when they are on hire. The policyholder is provided access to a facility that allows for declarations to be made of which vehicles have been on hire and is charged an agreed premium in respect of those hires. This policy is better for the hire companies with a larger fleet of vehicles, as there will always be a certain amount of vehicles ‘off hire’.
Monthly Self Rate Hire Insurance
Monthly rate policies operate in the same way as daily rate policies, only the declarations of hires are made on a monthly basis.
Off Hire Cover
Off hire cover is optional for the hire operator, but is hugely recommended. Off hire cover covers the vehicles when they are not on hire, and are being stored at the operators’ premises, it covers the vehicles against accidental damage.
