Where Does The Oil Used For Home Heating Systems Come From?
Kerosene is a low sulphur, clean burn fuel which gives high heat output making it an ideal fuel for home heating. It is also known as 28-Second heating oil, Burning Oil, Standard Kero, and C2 Kero. The cost of all this has to be taken into account when pricing oil. The price you pay is not just for the cost of the refined oil, your distributor also has to pay for its delivery to your home, the cost of drivers, office staff and other operating overheads and they do have to make a profit.

What Affects The Price Of Your Oil?
The time of year that you buy your oil, as well as the weather conditions, will impact on the price. In the summer, refiners, wholesalers and distributors will have enough oil in storage to cope with predictably low demands, so prices will remain lower, assuming there is no dramatic change in the price of crude oil. As winter arrives, a rapid drop in temperatures will cause an increase in the demand for oil. Distributors will begin to run low on oil and purchase more from the refineries, which also have to keep up with the increase in demand. This results in an increase in prices all along the line.

Where you live will also have an effect on how much your oil costs. If you live in a remote, rural area, the chances are that your oil will be more expensive. This is due to the cost of transporting the oil to your door, and also because there will be less suppliers in your area, resulting in less competition and higher prices.
